BIKINI WAXING FAQ
Everything you should know before your bikini waxing appointment. If you’ve never gotten a bikini wax before, chances are you are putting it off because you don’t know where to begin with preparations. Here are some pointers for your first or next appointment. We promise to do our best so you’ll feel 100 percent comfortable! Swan Cove Day Spa and Salon is well known for all types of bikini waxing (including Brazilian) performed by our highly skilled Estheticians.
We always use a fresh waxing stick each time we dip into the best wax available for the bikini area. Never agree to the “stick of the day” used on everyone or reusing the same stick throughout your waxing.
Arrive fresh - If you don't have time to run home and shower after a long day at work, please use cleansing wipes to freshen up prior to your appointment. Please realize that length matters – ideally, the hair should be ¼ inch in length for the wax to grab effectively. This is about 10-14 days of growth if you currently shave.
Schedule strategically – Going away for vacation – schedule a few days prior to going away to avoid direct sun which can increase sunburn chances or swimming which could be irritating. Types of bikini waxing – at Swan Cove, we do Bikini waxing (just outside the panty line), French bikini waxing (inside the panty line or “landing strip”) and Brazilian waxing (all bikini hair is removed.
Be mindful of your cycle – women are most sensitive the week before and after their period. Schedule your wax 5 days before or after to be safe is you are sensitive. If you are always sensitive, take an Ibuprofen 30 minutes before your service.
Know how to prevent ingrown hairs – always exfoliate and hydrate between waxes to prevent ingrown hairs. Exfoliation keeps dry skin cells from forming over the hair follicles which can trap the hair growth causing inflammation. Using a post waxing product can also help. Hydrating also keeps your hair soft making wax removal easier and less painful.
